Course 1 emphasizes understanding math through problem solving. The content strands include number and number sense, computation and estimation, measurement, geometry, probability, statistics, and patterns, functions, and algebra. Students will use concrete materials and technologies to model and investigate concepts. Students will often work in teams on mathematical tasks, communicating their reasoning orally and in writing.
